Ingredients
50g butter
1.25kg stewing lamb, diced
200g onion, diced
300g carrots, peeled and sliced
20g Bisto Chicken Bouillon Paste
500ml water
30g Bisto Reduced Salt Gravy Granules
1 bay leaf
1kg potatoes, peeled and sliced

Method
Step One
Heat oven to 180°C, 350°F gas mark 4.
Step Two
Heat a third of the butter in a medium pan, brown the lamb and remove from the pan.
Step Three
In the same pan, fry the onions and carrots with another third of the butter or oil until golden brown.
Step Four
Add the water and Bisto Chicken Bouillon Paste then bring to a simmer.
Step Five
Stir in the Bisto Reduced Salt Gravy Granules, add the meat and bay leaves, turn off the heat and transfer to a suitable oven-proof dish.
Step Six
Arrange the sliced potatoes on top of the meat, then brush with the final third of the butter.
Step Seven
Place in the oven for about 1½ hours until the potatoes are cooked and finish under a hot grill until golden brown.
