Chocolate and Cinnamon Shortbread

Ingredients

300g margarine (*check for allergens)
300g granulated sugar
2 eggs, beaten
450g McDougalls Plain Flour
100g wholemeal flour
50g McDougalls Cocoa Power
30g baking powder
10g ground cinnamon

Method

Step one

Pre-heat the oven to 170°C, (160°C fan) 330?F, Gas 3.

Step two

Cream the margarine and sugar together until pale and fluffy. Add the beaten eggs.

Step three

Add the McDougalls Plain Flour, whole wheat flour, McDougalls Cocoa Powder, baking powder and the cinnamon to form a dough.

Step four

Then shape the dough into a log and cut into portions. Place on a baking sheet and press down lightly with a fork to mark the surface.

Step five

Bake in the oven for 10-15 minutes or until firm to touch. Leave on the tray to cool for 5 minutes before placing on a wire rack.

Tips

For a slightly different flavour, try swapping out the cinnamon for the zest of an orange.
