Winners of East Midlands and Wales heats revealed
This week has truly highlighted the high level of skill that school chefs have.

Two new finalists confirmed for School Chef of the Year
On Wednesday 10th May two more chefs claimed their spot in the LACA School Chef of the Year final which will take place in July.
Lorna Nolan, from Breadsall Primary School (Derbyshire County Council), has advanced to the SCOTY final representing the East Midlands after serving up organic beef-filled Yorkshire pudding with a beetroot crisp-topped vegetable stack and roasted cheesy cauliflower, Derbyshire organic beef casserole encased in Yorkshires with vegetable stack and roasted cheesy cauliflower. For dessert Lorna created bejewelled berry beetroot brownie, chocolate brownie packed with berries and beetroot, served with an Angel Delight quenelle and berries.
The Wales heat was won by Joanne Cox from Chartwells who made Moroccan infused ravioli, Moroccan apricot and chickpea ravioli with spiced lentil sauce, mixed herb couscous and coconut peshwari. For dessert she made knickerbocker glory, layers of berries, fruit jelly and Angel Delight topped with banana ice cream.
Sarah Robb, foodservice marketing manager at Premier Foods said: “This week has truly highlighted the high level of skill that school chefs have. We’ve witnessed so much talent across the four heats that we’ve judged and have loved seeing the creative ways that school chefs use our products to help save them time and create consistent results. Well done to Lorna and Joanne.”
