McDougalls supports creativity in schools with Harvest Festival Wheatsheaf Loaf Challenge

McDougalls supports creativity in schools with Harvest Festival Wheatsheaf Loaf Challenge

The School Food People has teamed up Premier Foods Foodservice brand McDougalls to launch a new Harvest Festival Wheatsheaf Loaf Challenge, encouraging pupils across the UK to celebrate the harvest season through baking and creativity.

Open to both primary and secondary school pupils, the competition invites children to create their own version of a traditional wheatsheaf loaf, with support from school caterers and food technology teachers. While a recipe is available to help inspire entries, pupils are encouraged to add their own creative flair and make the loaf their own.

Three winning schools will each receive £500 to spend on equipment for their school kitchen or food technology room. Entries will be judged on creativity, originality and presentation by a panel from The School Food People and Premier Foods, with winners announced in November.

The challenge highlights the important role that baking can play in helping young people develop practical skills, explore food heritage and engage with seasonal celebrations.

Schools have until 30 October 2026 to submit their entries.
