Meet School Chef of the Year finalist, Aaron Delaney

Winning in the West Midlands, Aaron Delaney from Fiveways King Edwards School (Sodexo) served up a coconut stuffed aubergine in Sharwoods curry powder with coconut dahl & pineapple upside-down cake with pineapple, caramel and lemon curd custard.

Aaron thinks the children will enjoy the sweetness of the pineapple and the balance that the custard brings to the dish. It was his favourite dish as a child and his mum would make it with custard. The coconut dahl was inspired by his love of Middle Eastern cooking and has lots of unqiue flavours. It’s a dish that many children won’t have tried before.

In his main course Aaron is using Sharwood’s Curry Powder and he likes how the flavour isn’t too overpowering. He’s using Bird’s Custard Powder in his dessert as he finds this works with a range of flavours.
