Let the outdoor hospitality commence

Today is the day that hospitality begins its journey back to normality and we are really looking forward to seeing pictures of busy outdoor areas, packed full of happy customers. We wanted to share some hope and positivity as we celebrate this exciting day for our industry.

  • A research poll of 2,476 adults commissioned by VisitEngland shows that foodie experiences are top of the list for people who are looking forward to the easing of some coronavirus restrictions. 51% cited eating out at a restaurant as the travel experience they have missed most during lockdown, followed by 37% who have missed visits to pubs, bars, coffee shops and cafes.
  • Findings from a new consumer loyalty insights report by Sheffield-based hospitality CRM provider Airship.co.uk and hospitality gift card platform Toggle, in collaboration with academics from Sheffield Hallam University, revealed that over a third (39 per cent) of people are intending to eat and drink out more often, compared to before the pandemic.
  • A quarter of adults said they plan to visit a pub within the first week of restrictions being lifted and a tenth said they will head down on the first day, according to a money.co.uk survey.
  • Independent restaurants 'will be diners' first choice post lockdown', says Kantar via Big Hospitality.
