A culinary journey to Venice for the LACA School Chef of the Year winner and judges

Last month, the winner and judges of the LACA School Chef of the Year (SCOTY) competition embarked on a 72-hour trip to Venice, courtesy of Unox. This included our senior culinary lead, Louise Wagstaffe, who heads up the judging panel for the competition, with Bisto being the headline sponsor.

In the East of England heat Aron Jordan from Doucecroft School served up a potato gnocchi with mushrooms, spinach, parmesan and tarragon with a berry ripple cheesecake for dessert.

In the South West heat of LACA School Chef of the Year, Paul Harris from Cleverchefs served up a miso and honey chicken with vegetable okonomiyaki and pickled carrot and coriander with a mango delice for dessert.

In the North West heat of LACA School Chef of the Year, Paul Hardy from Taporley High School and Midshire Signature Services served up a Catalan roasted chicken and red pepper paella followed by Mississippi raspberry mud cake.

In the North East & Scotland heat, Richard Hardy from St Robert of Newminster Catholic School & 6th Form College created a main course called 'East meets West'.

Winning in the West Midlands, Aaron Delaney from Fiveways King Edwards School (Sodexo) served up a coconut stuffed aubergine in sharwoods curry powder with coconut dahl & pineapple upside-down cake with pineapple, caramel and lemon curd custard.

Kirsty McAndrew was the winner of the Yorkshire and Humberside heat of School Chef of the Year.

Meet School Chef of the Year finalist, Katherine Ruffalls

Katherine Ruffalls from Pinner Park Primary School was the winner of the London heat of the LACA School Chef of the Year competition. She served up a vegan bean and sweet potato chilli served in a taco bowl and vegan/gluten free chocolate and avocado fudge brownie.
