DIY Creme Brulee Crumble

Ingredients

1.5kg Bramley apples
400g golden sugar, granulated
400g McDougalls Crumble Mix
1kg Bird’s Ready to Use Custard
100g caster sugar
Optional Toppings
Rose petals, dried
Blackberries, fresh
Pistachios, nibbed
Raspberries, freeze-dried
Mini marshmallows

Method

Step one

To prepare the apple filling, preheat the oven to 200°C,400°F gas mark 6.

Step two

Prepare the Bramley apples by peeling, coring, and slicing into 2cm wedges.

Step three

In a bowl, mix the apple pieces with the golden caster sugar.

Step four

Transfer the mix to a baking tray lined with greaseproof or a silicone mat.

Step five

Place the baking tray into the oven and bake for 15-20 minutes.

Step six

Place the prepared fruit filling into a microwavable bowl and heat for one minute on full power.

Step seven

Place the fruit filling into serving bowls.

Step eight

Place the crumble mix on top of the fruit and spread evenly.

Step nine

Spoon in the cold custard and top with a sprinkle of sugar.

Step ten

Using a blow torch, caramelise the sugar until a dark crisp caramel.

Step eleven

Garnish with optional toppings.
