Cutlery Free Macaroni Cheese Bites

Ingredients

400g macaroni
50g butter unsalted
200g McDougalls Plain Flour, divided
800ml milk
125g Marvel Milk Powder
300g cheese grated
15g English mustard
1 bay leaf
Salt and pepper to taste
2 eggs
250g breadcrumbs

Method

Step one

Add the macaroni to a large pan of boiling water, stir and return to the boil. Cook for 11-13 minutes, drain well, cover, and set aside.

Step two

Make up the sauce in a saucepan by melting the butter and adding 50g of the flour to make a white roux.

Step three

Slowly whisk in the milk until a thickened smooth sauce is achieved. Add the Marvel Milk Powder and bay leaf and simmer gently for 20-25 minutes. Remove from the heat and take out the bay leaf. Add the mustard and the cheese, and whisk until smooth and creamy.

Step four

Fold the cooked pasta into the sauce, spread in a dish, and leave to cook. Then place into a fridge to set.

Step five

Cut into 1 inch cubes, then pass through flour, egg, and breadcrumbs.

Step six

Deep fry for 4 minutes or until cooked through. Serve warm.

Tips

This is great served with florets of broccoli or other chunky vegetable pieces which are easy to eat.
